This shirt was done by the system administrators at
the IBM T. J. Watson research center to poke a bit of
fun at their non-UNIX brethren. The statement ``Peace,
Love, & Rdist'' summed up how UNIX Systems Administration
was done by Mathnet, a precursor to IBM's Agora project.
The picture is taken from the front cover of the 4.3 BSD
manuals published by the Usenix association, with the
addition of flowers on the BSD Daemon's head and pitchfork.
The artwork was done by Scott Kennedy and Lee Damon. The shirt
was first distributed at the 1991 Usenix conference in
Nashville, Tennessee. The first printing was brown ink on
yellow (Scott's favorite): the second printing was red
ink on mint (Lee's favorite).
